Satyananda Narasiah is currently Head of Department – Innovation, Technology and Services at the Board of Investment Mauritius which is the national investment promotion agency of the Government of Mauritius with the mandate to promote and facilitate investment in the country. He has been involved in the ICT industry for more than 29 years assuming key senior management roles in leading Mauritian ICT companies like Mauritius Telecom, State Informatics Ltd and ContinuityMauritius. He started his career as Development Engineer at the R&D department of Schindler Aufzuege AG, Switzerland.
He was awarded a scholarship in 1987 to read Engineering at the Cambridge University where he received a B.A degree with specialisation in Electrical and Information Sciences. He also holds an MBA from the University of Mauritius. He is a Member of the London-based Business Continuity Institute as well as a Fellow Member of the Mauritius Institute of Directors.
He has been Director on the Board of several ICT companies in Mauritius and abroad and has also been member of several working groups on ICT issues at governmental and national levels namely: the Working Groups on Standards & Practices and Domestic ICT Industry for the National Information Technology Strategic Plan, the Internet Management Committee at the Information Communications Technology Authority and the Computerisation Co-ordination Committee and other management committees of the Ministry of Finance for the implementation of the Civil Service Informatics Programme.
