Carla L. Reyes is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida. She teaches in the areas of secured transactions and business organizations. Professor Reyes’ scholarship centers on the impact of emerging technology, including decentralized ledger technology, on the implementation, adjudication and understanding of law and regulation.
Prior to law teaching, Professor Reyes was an attorney in the Technology, Transactions and Privacy practice in the Seattle, Washington office of Perkins Coie LLP. She was a core member of the Blockchain Technology and Digital Currency and Electronic Financial Services industry groups. Professor Reyes’ practice centered on advising clients, from start-ups to established corporations, on how to navigate the murky regulatory landscape applicable to emerging technologies and disruptive business models. Professor Reyes previously served in the litigation practice at Perkins Coie LLP where she defended class actions related to e-commerce and privacy and security.
