Sanjeev Manrakhan studied “Economics and Applied Business Statistics” at the University of Cape Town and specialised in Services Marketing. He received a Post Graduate Certificate in “Telecom” from Bailbrook College in Bristol, UK before completing his MBA in “Information Strategy” at EDHEC Business School in Nice, France.
He was appointed Head of Marketing and International Roaming for Mauritius Telecom’s Mobile division in 1995, and was responsible for the launch of one of the first GSM networks in Africa. He was part of the consulting team of France Telecom Mexico that worked on the Strategic Marketing Plan of Telefonos de Mexico [TelMex] prior to the liberalisation of the telecom sector in 1998.
Thereafter, he joined Gemalto in 2000 as Regional Director for Sub-Saharan African looking after various sectors such as Telco, Banking and ID. During his time at Gemalto, he has assisted a number of African carriers innovate with OTA platforms for the provision of Value Added services to their clients. He was also part of the technology team working on the first Digital Wallet in Nigeria, [ValueCard Nigeria PLC]. In 2008, he was appointed as Senior Advisor to the President of Huawei SSA, reposnsible for a number of competitive markets in Africa.
He founded the Anglo African Group and is currently its Chief Executive Officer. Anglo African is an information technology firm, headquartered in Mauritius, with fully owned subsidiaries in Madagascar, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe and sales offices in Djibouti and Reunion, employing over 125 Certified ICT Professionals. It a strong player in the Enterprise ICT space in areas such as Hardware, Software, Applications, Connectivity and Devices and is now one of the largest ICT firm in the region.
In 2016, NanoBNK which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Anglo African was created as the Fintech arm of the Group, planning to offer a number of FSI services such as Payment, KYC, SmartLC, Digital Wallet, Remitttances – largely using the Blockchain
